IoT, or the Internet of Things, refers to the network of everyday physical objects embedded with sensors, software, and connectivity to exchange data with other devices and systems, enabling them to collect and share information. IoT is a technology that enables objects to communicate and interact with each other, creating a more connected and efficient environment.

On the other hand, a smart city is a concept that involves the use of IoT technology and other digital solutions to improve the livability, sustainability, and efficiency of urban areas. A smart city integrates various IoT devices, such as smart traffic lights, sensors for waste management, energy-efficient buildings, and smart grid systems, to enhance urban services and optimize resource utilization.

In summary, IoT is a broader technology that encompasses various interconnected devices, whereas a smart city is the application of IoT and other digital technologies to create more intelligent and sustainable urban environments.

አይኦቲ (IoT)፣ ወይም “የኢንተርኔት ነገሮች” ፣ ከሌሎች መሳሪያዎች እና ስርዓቶች ጋር በመጣመር ዳታ ለመለዋወጥ ማለትም በሴንሰሮች/አክቹዌተሮች እና ሶፍትዌሮች ጥምረት በመታገዝ ኢንተርኔትን በመጠቀም መረጃ እንዲሰበስብ እና እንዲያካፈል ያስችላል። አይኦቲ (IoT) ነገሮች እርስ በርስ እንዲግባቡ እና እንዲናበቡ የሚያደርግ የቴክኖሎጂ ጽንሰ-ሀሳብ  ሲሆን ይህም የበለጠ ነገሮች ከነገሮች ጋር ቀልጣፋ መስተጋብር እንዲፈጥሩና ለኑሮ ምቹ አካባቢ እንዲፈጠር ያግዛል።

በሌላ በኩል፣ በግርድፉ “ብልህ ከተማ” (Smart city) የስልጡን ከተማ ኑሮ በዘላቂነት ምቹት እና ቅልጥፍናን ለማሻሻል የአይኦቲ (IoT )ቴክኖሎጂን እና ሌሎች የዲጂታል መፍትሄዎችን የሚጠቀም ጽንሰ-ሀሳብ ነው። የ“ብልህ ከተማን” የከተማ አገልግሎቶችን ለማሻሻል እና የሀብት አጠቃቀምን ለማመቻቸት እንደ ስማርት የትራፊክ መብራቶች፣ ስማርት የቆሻሻ አያያዝና አወጋገድ ፣ የኤሊክትሪክ ሃይል ቆጣቢ ህንፃዎች እና መንገዶች፤  ስማርት ኤሊክትሪክ ሃይል ተሸካሚዎችን የመሳሰሉ የተለያዩ የአይኦቲ (IoT ) እና (IIOT) መሳሪያዎችን አዋህዶ የተሻለ እና የሰለጠነ ምቹ ከተማን የሚፈጥር ቴክኖሎጂ ስርአት ነው።

ማጠቃለያ አይኦቲ (IoT ) የተለያዩ ተያያዥ (ተጣባቂ) እቃዎችን የሚያጠቃል ሰፊ ቴክኖሎጂ ሲሆን ፣ ብልህ ከተማ (Smart city) ደግሞ የአይኦቲ እና ሌሎች ዲጂታል ቴክኖሎጂዎችን በመጠቀም ብልህ እና በዘላቂነት ነገሮችን ራስ ሰር በማድረግ ስልጡን የከተማ አካባቢን መፍጠር ነው።
